Works for Me Wednesday

I'm not sure why it took me so long to figure out. I've been a full-time, working mom for 3 1/2 years and I'm just now starting to realize what a wonderful invention the slow cooker is!

It's is a FTWM's best friend!

I tell ya, I've used my slow cooker to make at least 5 out of my last 10 meals these past two weeks! Where has my head been?? I guess I didn't realize what a timesaver it really is and how easy it is to make a full meal, all in the crockpot. But I tell you what! I'm lovin' it now. My favorite thing to do is to just put a bunch of boneless chicken breasts, or a whole chicken in, cover with water and dump 1/2 a bottle of salad dressing/marinade (from my very extensive collection!) and let it cook for 6-8 hours. The chicken comes out so tender, you hardly need to chew! I then use it for casseroles, fajitas, stir fry - you name it. We also like to put soy sauce, water and slow cook a piece of roast for French Dips. Yum-O!

Here's a blog that's dedicated entirely to Crockpotting! I just love that the meal is cooked in one dish, done when I get home and I didn't have to stand over it for a half hour. Works for me!

  1. I am also a FTWM and I hardly ever use my crockpot. I don't know why because when I do use it I always say to myself this was so easy, I need to do this more often!
I really need to get better about this.

  2. I never did either! I've always worked full-time and would come home so tired and so NOT in the mood to cook. And now, it's like "I've seen the light!"

  3. I don't use mine near enough...and every time I do, I tell myself that I need to do it more often! One big tip---get the new liners that they have. It took me a while to break down and try them but I fell in LOVE! Especially when making the more "sticky" foods.

  5. I am FTWM too and LOVE my crockpot. I love it in the winter to come home to a hot cooked meal. I love it in the summer because I am not using my oven and overheating my already too hot house!
